Reverend Paul Knudsen
The Rev. Paul H. Knudsen has been the Pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1995. Pastor Knudsen is a native New Yorker. He was born and raised on Staten Island, attending Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from Wagner College and attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. His internship was in a suburban church in Southfield, Michigan, just north of Detroit.
Lisa Johnson graduated from The Scholars Program at Brooklyn College with a B.A. in English. Her first profession was in Sports Radio, where she produced the broadcasts for virtually all the New York teams, The World Series, NFL playoffs, NBA and NHL Finals, and the Dream Team Basketball games in the 2000 Olympics.
While working in Radio, she created The Children’s Community Chorus of Brooklyn, which appeared on television and in newspapers. Through this group, she heard about and began teaching music at LES, fell in love with the school, and switched careers to teach full time. She incorporates her broadcast training into the Junior High Drama program, Choir, and even into her Honors Math classes!
Dr. Jan Pirozzi
Dr. Jan Pirozzi received her M.S.Ed. and Doctorate of Psychology in School-Clinical Psychology from Pace University, and her B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University. She has been working in private practice for 8 years, providing services to children, adults and families. She brings with her comprehensive school and clinical experience, with a focus on the development of the whole child across social-emotional, learning, and relationship domains, within the context of their academic and home environments, as well as their community.
Signe Campbell received her masters from Bank Street College with a degree in School Administration and Supervision, and from Wagner College with a BA in English and a minor in Education. In 2010 she completed a two year course in the Future Leaders Academy through the Lutheran School Association. She worked at Leif Ericson Day School for almost 20 years both as a junior high school classroom teacher and in administration. As a strong advocate in Lutheran Education she is excited to continue her career at LES in this new role.
Mr. Kevin MacCallum
Director of Music, Pre-School — Grade 3
Kevin MacCallum was classically trained in vocal music at LaGuardia High School and Mannes School of Music, studied directing at the Royal Court Theater in London and has a B.S. in theater acting and directing from Northwestern University.
Mr. Kevin is a father of three beautiful children and has been an early childhood music teacher for eleven years. Mr. Kevin’s music program was recently nominated best music program in Brooklyn by Nick Jr. and Go City Kids…one of only four programs. Mr. Kevin became the elementary music director at LES in 2007 and has been leading chapel music for 3 years. Mr. Kevin serves as the worship leader in both early childhood and upper grade chapels.
